Business Financing, Prepared Properly

Most financing applications are not refused because the business is weak. They are refused because the paperwork does not show how strong it is.

We are a bookkeeping and accounting firm. That is an unusual place to start a financing conversation, and it is exactly why it works: we already hold the records a lender will ask for, and we know whether they will stand up to scrutiny before anyone applies.

We do not lend and we do not decide who gets approved. What we do is get your numbers into the shape a lender expects, help you work out how much you actually need, and introduce you to our financing partner when it is the right move.

How we are paid

Scan Universal Solutions Inc. is not a lender and does not underwrite or approve credit. We prepare your financial information and refer you to our financing partner, who assesses the application and makes the lending decision. We are paid a commission by that partner if you proceed. This does not change what we advise — if borrowing is not the right step for your business, we will tell you so.

The Process

How it works

01Talk it throughA free conversation about what you need, what it is for, and whether financing is the right instrument at all.
02Check the numbersWe review your records against what a lender will want to see, and flag anything that needs correcting before you apply.
03Prepare the packageCurrent financial statements, a cash-flow forecast and the supporting documents, assembled and consistent.
04Introduction and applicationWe introduce you to our financing partner, who assesses the application and makes the lending decision.
What Financing Is For

The reasons businesses usually come to us

Financing is a tool, not a rescue. It works best when there is a specific, costed reason for it and a clear way it pays for itself.

Bridging a gap between invoicing and payment
Buying equipment without draining cash reserves
Funding inventory ahead of a busy season
Covering payroll through a predictable slow month
Taking on a larger contract than working capital allows
Opening or fitting out a second location
Spreading a large tax bill rather than absorbing it at once
Refinancing costlier borrowing already in place
Why Applications Fail

Almost always the records, not the business

Lenders decline for reasons that are rarely about whether the business is viable. In our experience the recurring ones are mundane and fixable: books that are months behind, statements that do not reconcile to the bank, personal and business spending mixed together, no cash-flow forecast, and figures in the application that do not match the filed accounts.

This is the part we are genuinely good at. If your records need work before anyone sees them, we will say so and fix it first — our bookkeeping clean-up service exists for exactly this situation. Applying with weak paperwork tends to produce a declined application and a mark on your file, which makes the next attempt harder.

How It Works

Four steps, and we will tell you if you should stop at step two

We start with a conversation about what the money is for and what the business can service. If borrowing is not the right answer, that is a legitimate outcome and we will say so.

Who It Is For

Businesses we help with this

Businesses with a specific, costed reason to borrow

Owners who have been declined before and do not know why

Companies whose books are behind and need tidying first

Businesses growing faster than their working capital

Owners comparing financing against other options

Companies facing a large one-off cost

Not sure whether you should borrow at all?

That is a good question to ask before applying. Tell us what the money is for and we will give you a straight answer.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do you lend the money yourselves?

No. We are not a lender and we do not underwrite or approve credit. We prepare your financials and introduce you to our financing partner, who makes the lending decision.

Are you paid for the referral?

Yes. We receive a commission from our financing partner if you proceed. We tell you that upfront, and it does not change what we would advise — if borrowing is the wrong move for your business we will say so.

What will I need to provide?

Typically current financial statements, recent bank statements, details of any existing borrowing, and a clear explanation of what the funds are for. The exact list depends on the product and the amount, and we will confirm it for your situation before you apply — so you are not chasing documents halfway through.

How much can I borrow and what will it cost?

That is set by the lender, not by us, and it depends on the product, the amount and your trading history. We will give you the current ranges when we speak, and model the total cost over the life of the facility rather than quoting a headline rate — the two are often very different numbers.

How long does it take?

It depends on the product and, more than anything, on how complete your paperwork is. Applications supported by current, reconciled financials move considerably faster than ones where the lender has to keep asking for missing information. That part we can influence.

What if my books are not up to date?

Then that is the first job, and we would rather do it before you apply than after a decline. Clean, current records materially improve how an application is read.
