A Business Consultant Who Starts With Your Actual Problem

No standard package. You bring the thing that is worrying you, and we work out together whether it is what it appears to be.

Most business owners do not wake up wanting to buy consulting. They wake up with a specific worry — a customer who owes too much, a month that lost money for no obvious reason, a decision about hiring that they cannot confidently make.

That is where we start. We look at what is actually happening in the business, in financial terms, and work with you on what to do about it. Sometimes that is a short piece of analysis. Sometimes it turns into something longer. We would rather tell you it is the former.

What Owners Bring Us

The conversations that start most engagements

Every engagement begins with a problem stated in plain language, not a service selected from a list.

“We are busier than ever but there is no money in the bank.”
“I do not know what to charge.”
“Can I afford to hire someone?”
“One part of the business might be losing money.”
“My costs went up and I cannot see where.”
“I want to step back from day-to-day.”
“Should I take on this contract?”
“I have an offer for the business.”
How We Work

Investigate first, recommend second

We do not arrive with a methodology to sell. We look at your numbers, ask questions, and form a view about what is really driving the issue — which is frequently not what it looked like at the start.

You get a clear read on the situation and a short set of things worth doing, in the order worth doing them. If the answer is that you need a bookkeeper rather than a consultant, we will say so.

Where It Goes Next

Some problems are solved in a week

A good number of engagements end after the analysis, because the owner now knows what to do and can do it themselves. Others turn into ongoing business advisory support, or into implementation work on reporting, systems or process.

We are equally happy with either outcome.

Questions

Frequently asked

What does a business consultant do?

A business consultant helps an owner or management team understand a problem and decide what to do about it. Our work is grounded in the financial reality of the business — what the numbers show about costs, margins, cash and performance.

How much does a business consultant cost in Canada?

It depends entirely on scope. A focused piece of analysis on a single question is a small fixed engagement. Ongoing involvement is priced monthly. We give you a scope and a number before any work starts, after a free initial conversation.

Do I need a consultant or a bookkeeper?

If your records are behind or unreliable, you need bookkeeping first — consulting on bad data is wasted money. We provide both, and we will tell you which you actually need rather than selling you the more expensive one.

Can you help with a one-off decision?

Yes. A large share of our consulting work is a single question — whether to hire, whether to open a second location, whether a contract is worth taking. These are usually short, fixed-scope pieces.
